Come one, Come All!

While Sunday is for the Pros, anybody can have a go on the Saturday and we have several racing categories available over some challenging courses. Coillte have graciously granted access to the whole of the Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Trails for the weekend, Ireland’s largest mountain bike trail network. The terrain is a mixture of manicured man made single track, wide forest roads and natural rocky paths amid the lush and beautiful countryside of Ballyhoura. There is a huge emphasis on giving it a go in the Fun category which will provide a good challenge over 23 kilometres of racing.

€528 at the Top of Seefin

At 528m Seefin is the highest peak in the Ballyhoura Mountains, towering over the Mountain Bike Trail Centre below. For the 2014 European Marathon Championships we're offering a cash prize fund of €528 split between the first man and first woman to summit the mountain on Sunday's Elite Championship Race. The first rider up to the top must also complete the race in full to be considered. If you've never visited the Ballyhouras, trust us, it's quite the challenge and is sure to have competitors pushing hard all the way to the top! Make sure you're there to witness it on the 15th of June.

Ireland set to host the 2014 European Marathon Championships

History will be made in June 2014 as Ireland hosts it's first official UCI championship event. The European Marathon Championships is set to attract the best racers in the world to the sleepy village of Kilfinane, nestled in the Ballyhoura Mountains, County Limerick. Ballyhoura is well equipped to host the event, having previously facilitated International Bluegrass Enduro Tour and the Irish National Marathon Championships in 2013. The event is set to bring a much welcome tourism boost to the area as competitors prepare in the days and weeks running up to the event.
